Former Deputy Minister for Water Resources, Works and Housing, Samson Ahi, says Ghanaians would have suffered water crisis during the Coronavirus lockdown had the John Mahama Government not improved the country’s water facilities.
Speaking with host Kaakyire Kwesi Appea-Apraku on Dwaboase on Power 97.9 FM Tuesday, the MP for Bodi said president Akufo-Addo ought to have acknowledged the efforts of the Mahama administration in improving the access to water across the country from 2013 to 2016.
Following the outbreak of Coronavirus in the country, President Akufo-Addo announced after a week of lockdown that his government will absorb water bills of the country for 3 months.
But Mr Ahi, who was instrumental in various water expansion projects in the country under the then government, observed that but for the Mahama government’s intervention in that sector, Ghanaians would have suffered during the lockdown, considering the great number of lower income earners in the country whose sources of livelihood has been truncated.
